Rob Russo

Rob Russo is well known for representing and marketing production companies and directors to advertising agencies to produce television commercials. In addition, Rob is a very creative person and has independently developed and produced content for the music, fashion, and television industry. Based in southern California, Rob has been involved in the marketing and sales of television commercials, films, and music related projects for over 25 years.

Rob Russo’s list of credits exhibits a wide range of experience. Rob has personally represented feature film directors, leading animation studios, music companies and creative artists throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Rob had his start in the music industry, representing and managing recording artists. Soon after, he was selling and marketing 3-minute mini concerts (music videos) for release in movie theatres prior to the airing of the feature film.

As Rob was building the representation side of his business, he was also developing and producing music and film projects. His creative side moved him to conceive and write the New Age Album, “The World in Our Eye’s”.  He signed a recording and publishing contract with Celestial Harmonies and the double album was released worldwide.

The World In Our Eyes

Co-Created and written by Rob Russo. A double CD recording, and one-hour video released by Celestial Harmonies, one of the leading New Age record companies in the United States. The album is based on the birth of the world according to Native American Indians and includes original music compositions incorporated into a 52-minute continuous recording. The CD was distributed worldwide.

Times Mirror Magazines

Rob Russo formed a joint venture and partnership to produce and market a series of audio books with Times Mirror. 12 audio books were produced by Rob.

Campaigns and ad agency clients included Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Nissan Pathfinder (Super Bowl commercial), General Motors, Grey Group, JWT, Saatchi Saatchi, McCann World Group and BBDO.

Rob Russo served as director of marketing and sales under Ian Ralfini, former president of Warner Brothers Records (UK). Russo’s duties included selling the licensing and publishing rights of such recording artists as Tom Petty and the Dirty Strangers (featuring Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones) to advertising agencies.

Rob promoted three-minute mini concerts (music videos) for release in movie theaters prior to the airing of the feature film. Rob produced the mini concerts for theatrical distribution under an exclusive contract with Screenvision, a joint venture of Capital Cities Communications and Mediavision. The three-minute concerts were shown in more than 4,000 theatres in 175 markets in the United States.

Rob represented director Mark Benjamin and is credited with selling Mark’s biggest commercial campaign, Nissan Path Finder for TBWA/Chiat Day, New York. The spot was a popular Super Bowl commercial!

Rob Russo represented academy award winning feature film directors Oliver Stone and John Avildsen for television commercial spots.

Rob was personal manager to Steve Abrams, music collaborator to R&B recording legend Freddy Jackson. Rob arranged a live showcase performance for Steve, attended by Motown executives and Tommy Mottola, president of Sony Music. Rob co-wrote all the songs performed by Steve Abrams.

Rob Russo served 5 years as executive producer and VP of marketing and sales. Rob is credited with elevating director Bill Balsley from a regional spot director to a national spot director inside of one year. Thirty’s shot countless spots for Proctor & Gamble and many other national companies, working with the biggest ad agencies in New York and billing out over five million dollars in commercial work.

Rob was an associate of international financier Bob Armao. Mr. Armao was a former financial consultant to the Rockefeller family and has represented more than 18 world leaders. Rob collaborated on several projects with Armao & Company such as the franchise rights to Hard Rock Cafés in three foreign countries.

Rob Russo created and directed the half hour television show, “House Touring With Elaine Salkin”. Elaine was the Decorator and Design editor for the New York Daily News. The show brought viewers inside the homes of celebrities such as the world-renowned fashion designer Oleg Cassini and his incredible mansion on the North Shore of Long Island, NY.

Rob Russo produced and marketed an audio book series of action-adventure stories in association with Times Mirror Magazines, a Time Warner company. The stories were published and edited from Outdoor Life magazine, then brought to life on audio with original music, narration, and sound effects. The series was distributed nationwide.

Rob Russo represented director George Paleze to the Hispanic agency market as well as the Anglo market. Rob has close agency contacts in the Hispanic ad agency market throughout the United States.
